How Weather Can Affect Teeth and Oral Health
Changes in weather from the frigid cold to the warmer temperatures could affect your teeth. The major problem caused by changes in weather is tooth sensitivity.
The sensitivity to temperature is often caused by factors such as thin or weakened enamel, cracks and microscopic fractures in the tooth, gum shrinkage, fillings and crowns that have been eroded over time.
Another cause of teeth sensitivity is breathing through the mouth. The lips and cheeks serve to insulate the teeth from the extreme weather conditions. Breathing through mouth will lead to tooth sensitivity.
